How much is the cost to install a Dash Cam
The installation cost of a dash cam is typically between $30 and $50, depending on the complexity of the installation. The price of a dash cam itself can range from $180 to $250 for models with good cost performance, while higher-end configurations can cost more than $450.

The installation time of a dash cam depends on its type and power supply method. For hidden dash cams, it usually takes about half an hour to connect to the cigarette lighter for power. For rearview mirror dash cams, it takes about an hour or longer if power is obtained from the fuse box.
The reason why the installation time for rearview mirror dash cams is longer is because they often have dual cameras, including one rear camera, which requires additional installation and wiring. The wiring distance for the rear camera is usually longer, and there may be a need to open holes in the trunk. Additionally, if you want the dash cam to automatically display the reverse image when the vehicle is in reverse, you need to connect the dash cam's reverse signal line to the reverse light line, which further adds to the installation time compared to a single-camera dash cam.
Obtaining power from the cigarette lighter is a simpler and shorter installation method compared to the fuse operation. However, using the cigarette lighter for power will occupy the socket and cause inconvenience for other electrical equipment. The monitoring function of the dash cam cannot be used when obtaining power from the cigarette lighter. To have continuous power supply and monitoring even when the vehicle is turned off, connecting to the fuse box is recommended. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, and users can choose according to their own needs and the length of the power cord.
