4G Video Surveillance Solution for Buses

Industry Status and Needs

The ever-improving and expanding public transportation system provides passengers with convenience and efficiency. However, it simultaneously imposes significant internal management and social pressures on public transportation companies and traffic management departments in terms of effective monitoring.

4G Video Surveillance Solution for Buses

Currently, many buses are equipped with GPS positioning devices. However, these devices are not sufficient for effectively supervising issues such as internal theft, speeding or slow driving, overloading, and sudden incidents. Therefore, there is a need for onboard audio and video surveillance equipment to supplement or even replace the existing single GPS monitoring method.

By installing a recording system with real-time 4G transmission monitoring, it becomes possible to effectively monitor behaviors such as drivers and conductors stealing ticket money or privately collecting cash. The system also provides real-time monitoring and recording of speeding behaviors, and immediate alarms for incidents like thefts and robberies inside the bus. Local video recordings can serve as evidence for disciplinary action or be handed over to the police. This improves vehicle safety and service levels, leading to higher passenger satisfaction.

The GPS global positioning system can accurately track and record the vehicle's route and report to the monitoring center in real time. In case of emergencies or incidents on the bus, the driver and passengers can activate an alarm button to report immediately to the monitoring center for handling. The control center, through the 4G wireless network, can monitor the vehicle's situation in real-time and communicate instantly with the bus staff, enhancing safety and dispatch capabilities.

The 4G video surveillance system for buses mainly consists of four components: the intelligent GPS satellite positioning system, the 4G wireless video surveillance system, the monitoring system platform, and the onboard hardware equipment.

1. Intelligent GPS Satellite Positioning System: The onboard equipment uses the GPS module to obtain the current location information of the vehicle, including the current latitude and longitude, current speed, current working speed vector azimuth, and current time. Through the integrated monitoring system platform, combined with the GIS electronic map, the vehicle is accurately positioned, and a series of GPS vehicle management and safety monitoring functions are performed. The existing GPS global positioning system is used here.

2. 4G Wireless Video Surveillance System: The onboard equipment contains a built-in 4G module that transmits the vehicle's status, video, and audio information to the monitoring center in real-time via the network. It can also receive various commands from the monitoring center. Through the 4G wireless network, real-time video and other information inside and outside the vehicle are transmitted to the monitoring center, allowing the center to understand the live video situation of the vehicle in real-time and manage the video recording in various ways.

3. Monitoring System Platform: The monitoring system platform is the core of the entire monitoring system. It manages and dispatches all vehicles' video, GPS information, alarm information, video management, user rights management, and other operations and management tasks.

4. Onboard Front-end Equipment: The front-end onboard equipment installed on the bus includes audio and video collection modules, audio and video codec modules, GPS data collection modules, and 4G transmission modules.
