What is Blind Spot Detection (BSD)

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) assists drivers in avoiding collisions by detecting individuals in the vehicle's blind spot areas during driving.

Commercial vehicles are large in size and have poor visibility. Even equipped with rearview mirrors, drivers still struggle to clearly observe critical areas beside the vehicle. With an AI-enabled mobile digital video recorder and side cabin cameras, the blind spot areas can be monitored. The system will issue an early warning when a person approaches, thereby preventing collisions.

Is Blind Spot Detection (BSD) Practical?

Blind Spot Detection is a safe and practical tool, with the following advantages:

① Capable of detecting moving objects within the vehicle's blind spot detection zone.

② Provides warnings both day and night, triggering an alarm when a moving object approaches the side of the vehicle.

③ Works in conjunction with LED flashing lights and buzzers to enhance drivers' vigilance during lane changes and reduce side collisions.

④ Triggers an alarm before the door is opened when pedestrians or cyclists approach a parked vehicle.

Applicable Scenarios of Blind Spot Detection (BSD)

① BSD for Buses: Boasts a 150° detection range, issuing early warnings when individuals approach or chase the vehicle to prevent pedestrian collisions.

② BSD for Freight and Logistics Vehicles: Features a dual-lens design with a detection range exceeding 12 meters, and is easy to install on rearview mirrors. It supports anti-theft functionality, with a UPS battery supplying power after the ACC is turned off. When a person is detected, an audible and visual alarm is activated, and relevant information is synchronously recorded to the client terminal.

③ BSD for Tank Trucks: Offers the same functions as the BSD for freight and logistics vehicles, ensuring safety during both driving and parking.

④ BSD for Engineering Trucks with Audible and Visual Flashing Alarms: Adopts a dual-lens design with a detection range exceeding 12 meters, suitable for easy installation on rearview mirrors. It warns surrounding individuals of the approaching vehicle and prompts them to stay away for safety.

BSD Alarm Types

There are 6 types of BSD alarms, which are broadcast via the illuminated audio-visual buzzer installed on the side of the cab:

1. Caution: Large Vehicle (Level 1, a certain distance between the individual and the vehicle)

2. Keep Distance from the Vehicle (Level 2, the individual is approaching the vehicle)

3. Danger, Danger! (Highest level, the individual is in close proximity to the vehicle)

4. Vehicle Turning Right, Please Take Care

5. Vehicle Turning Left, Please Take Care

6. Vehicle Starting Soon, Please Take Care

Composition of the Blind Spot Detection (BSD) System

The Blind Spot Detection System consists of cameras and an illuminated audio-visual buzzer, all under the YUWEI brand.
