The fleet vehicle tracking system adopts GPS, BeiDou positioning and remote communication technologies, combined with cloud-based management software, to real-time monitor the location, vehicle condition and operational status of the fleet. Modern systems go beyond basic positioning functions and build an integrated intelligent management system covering vehicles, drivers and back-end platforms.
The system collects data through three approaches: satellite positioning, vehicle diagnostic interfaces and driver input. Vehicle data is calculated to obtain accurate longitude and latitude via satellites, then transmitted to terminals through 4G/Wireless Network. Core information including location, engine operating conditions and geofence status is recorded synchronously. Supported by management software, users can access data such as vehicle speed, driving behavior and task progress, facilitating key decisions including route optimization, vehicle maintenance and asset scheduling.

GNSS positioning has two modes: passive mode and active mode. The passive mode stores data locally for post-event review and analysis. The active mode transmits data to the cloud in real time to achieve all-weather online monitoring. Satellite communication models work without cellular networks, adapting to remote and complex road sections and ensuring continuous and stable positioning.
Composition of Vehicle Tracking System
The complete vehicle tracking system consists of four core modules, which work together to realize intelligent fleet management:
1. GPS Tracking Hardware
Includes plug-and-play OBD terminals, fixed on-board devices and asset trackers. It supports 4G and satellite dual-network connection, and is compatible with all types of fleets such as trucks, passenger buses and engineering equipment.
2. Intelligent Sensor Components
Integrated with sensors for speed, fuel consumption and gravity induction, it accurately captures abnormal operating conditions and driving behaviors including sudden braking, sharp turning and prolonged idling.
3. Cloud Management Platform
Equipped with functions of real-time alarm, track playback, data report and energy consumption analysis. It supports switching between various types of maps and retains historical driving data for up to 90 days.
4. Mobile Management Terminal
Enables remote scheduling, task distribution, fault reporting and message notification, allowing managers to control the fleet anytime and anywhere.
The system can be expanded with AI dual-channel recording devices, driver identification terminals and emergency alarm devices, adding value-added capabilities such as video surveillance, personnel verification and safety early warning.
Functions of Vehicle Tracking Management System
1. Real-time Positioning
Updates vehicle locations at millisecond intervals and accurately identifies driving, parking and idling statuses. It supports full track playback and statistics of dwell time at stops, and automatically records driving mileage and working hours, which can be used as proof of delivery completion. Virtual operation areas can be set via geofences, and alarms will be triggered immediately when vehicles enter or exit the designated areas.
2. Driving Safety Monitoring
Automatically identifies dangerous driving behaviors such as speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking and distracted driving, and generates driving scores via the data dashboard.
3. Energy Consumption & Vehicle Maintenance
Intelligently analyzes fuel and power consumption and generates visual reports to accurately identify energy waste caused by idling and aggressive driving. For new energy fleets, it can monitor battery level, driving range and charging data in real time.
4. Compliance Management
Integrates compliance data of ELD, IFTA, DVIR and other standards, and automatically counts driving hours and mileage to meet industry traffic supervision regulations. It replaces manual account registration to reduce the risk of compliance fines. Meanwhile, it monitors abnormal vehicle movements in real time to prevent unauthorized private use and asset loss.
5. Intelligent Scheduling
Intelligently assigns the nearest driver according to real-time vehicle locations to respond to emergency orders quickly. It plans optimal routes based on real-time road conditions and provides accurate estimated arrival time, cutting down transportation delays and improving customer service experience.
